The PC version of the new Star Trek Bridge Crew expansion called The Next Generation is out today on PSVR but the PC version is still a way off. PC gamers won’t get their hands on it until 24 July for some reason.

Despite the fact there’s still over a month until it arrives on the PC, a launch trailer has been released to satisfy the console crowd. If you own the game then this will be a no-brainer purchase with the addition of the NCC-1701-D ship that the mighty Picard captained. There’s also the Borg which is another great reason to pick this up.

For now though, just enjoy the trailer showing what’s coming up.

No Man’s Sky NEXT release date and full multiplayer coming | PC Invasion

No Man's Sky NEXT release date and full multiplayer coming | PC Invasion

There was such a fuss when No Man’s Sky released without full multiplayer and Hello Games’ Sean Murray took a lot of flack at the time. The good news is the team has finally got there after two years.

The No Man’s Sky NEXT update will be dropping on Tuesday 25 July in the US and Friday 7th July in Europe for the PC. This update will finally bring a full multiplayer experience to the space exploration game.

Budding explorers will be able to play alongside their friends and bump into random travelers as they explore. Players will be able to work as a team to build bases which will be seen by others and players can team-up with friends for some space combat.

“Multiplayer completely changes the No Man’s Sky experience, it’s emergent, fun and intense in ways we always wanted it to be. I’m so happy this is finally happening” said Sean Murray, founder, Hello Games. “It is genuinely exciting to be able to fully realise the potential so many people could see in No Man’s Sky. This will be our biggest update yet and we’re pumped to be bringing Xbox players along on the journey with us now too.”

It’s great to see the game finally feature a full multiplayer mode but players have had to wait quite a while to get their hands on it. Might be worth fiding this back up again.

Co-op shooter Earthfall gets release date

Co-op shooter Earthfall gets release date | PC Invasion

Developer Holospark has announced their co-op shooter Earthfall will be launching on 13 July.

Gamers who enjoy a bit of Left 4 Dead may want to check this out. Earthfall is a similar kind of game where four players will have to blast their way through hordes of aliens in the Pacific Northwest. Using team tactics and 3D printed weaponry, players will have to do their best to fortify holdouts and complete mission objectives with tools like portable barricades and heavy turrets.

There are a total of ten missions spread across two campaigns with all kinds of nasty aliens to take down. As the game progresses, the story behind the alien invasion will unfold. Not that most players will give a toss about the story when they can lay waste to packs of oncoming aliens.

Earthfall has been in Early Access since last year and feedback has been positive since it appeared which bodes well for the game’s full launch. The trailer below sets the scene pretty well.

Combat Air Patrol 2 update lands – Campaign mode in the works

Combat Air Patrol 2 update lands - Campaign mode in the works

Sim 155 have been busy working on the tasty looking Combat Air Patrol 2 and this a new patch has been released. This latest update adds new features and addresses a stack of bugs.

Improvements made in the v812.1 patch includes animated cockpit controls, full control over the interior and exterior lighting, four HUD modes and more. There are also VR updates such as optimisations, gamma control, and updates to the latest API versions. The list is quite lengthy but they have been taking their time working through all the technical details for the aircraft which is great to see.

The update also mentions that the team is now finally getting to work on the campaign mode and there will be multiple campaigns when the game is completed. Smaller campaigns and operations will be added first such as neutralising island bases and enemy threats.

Campaigns will also be simulated minute by minute with the ability to accelerate time when there’s a slow period of action. Players will be able to disable the time acceleration if an event such as new radar contacts, enemy proximity to assets, distress calls, and more occur.

Other details mentioned include the ability to switch to a 3D view of any of your assets (carrier/aircraft/ships/drones) at any time. There will also be a limited number of airframes, and if you return to the ship with damage, that airframe will be unavailable for a time depending on the amount of damage that’s been taken.

Combat Air Patrol 2 will have been in Early Access for a couple of years this June and it will only really turn around once the campaign elements go in. It is looking pretty great though and even without any campaign to speak of yet I’ve been enjoying getting to grips with the flight model and trying to perfect carrier landings which are not easy. So far Sim 155 is doing an excellent job with Combat Air Patrol 2 so keep an eye on it and check the latest patch notes for this update.

Gruesome looking Horror game Agony getting procedural Agony Mode

Gruesome looking Horror game Agony getting procedural Agony Mode | PC Invasion

Agony from Mad Mind Studios is out on 29 May promising some horrific looking gameplay.

Today Mad Mind announced a new mode that will launch with the game called Agony Mode. This mode will bring procedurally generated chambers to test players’ survival skills and these chambers will be made from human bones or frosted ice chambers. How welcoming.

This new mode will also allow players to choose their character’s gender prior to running around the levels partaking in random quests and challenges. There will also be a global leaderboard to try and climb.

Agony was Kickstarted raising which was three time the amount they were looking for to get the game made. Players start their journey in the depths of hell with no memories if their past and the idea is to escape hell while encountering all kinds of gruesome beings along the way. It looks particularly unpleasant which means it will probably sell by the bucket-load.

Agony is out at the end of the month on Steam.

Sci-fi shooter Omnibion War inspired by mecha anime heading to PC

Sci-fi shooter Omnibion War inspired by mecha anime heading to PC

1C and developer Crazy Bullet Studio are bringing their on-rails shooter Omnibion War to Steam soon.

In this blast-fest, players will take control of space jet than can also transform into a mech with the push of a button. Utilising the power of the jet and the mech, the Hellhounds have to be stopped from acquiring the Omnibion which is some sort of powerful weapon they are desperate to acquire.

Playing as a character called Jaden, you’ll control what is considered the ultimate fighting machine and gain upgrades along the way. Did I mention it also turns into a mech?

It looks and sounds suitable retro, and the fact it’s on-rails could make for a perfect blast-em-up experience. The game is coming “soon” to Steam and there’s a trailer with lost of shooty action.
